OpenGL based QuickTime Player (OMG version 2.0 Test Available!!!) Posted July 31, 2005 17:23     Ugly things are happening in QT 7.0.1 for 4:2:2 to RGB encode/decode, depending on codec. For example, Motion JPEG will decode much dimmer than uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:2. However, using a tool like QuickTime Player Pro that can do native 4:2:2, you can convert from one to the other without any color shift. RGB decode was identical in 6.5......Someone at Apple said this will be fixed, but I don't know when. In the mean time, I've had to move everything to uncompressed 4:2:2 for any cross-platform work from QuickTime sources. Thank goodness for gigabit and fast RAID - I'm working with a bunch of 35 GB files today, with source build on the Mac and processed on Win."
