DVD Studio Pro: Authoring a DVD that plays automatically without a menu

DVD Studio Pro: Authoring a DVD that plays automatically without a menu

Most DVDs are created with at least one menu from which the user can select tracks, other menus, special features, and so forth. In some cases, you may wish to create a DVD that just plays its content without the need for user interaction.

The following steps describe one way to author a disc in DVD Studio Pro without a menu, and without the need for the user to press the Play button. This enables a track to play automatically when the user puts the disc into a DVD player. The key to these steps is to use the First Play function.

VTS Allocation in DVD Studio Pro 4 By David Nagel

VTS Allocation in DVD Studio Pro 4: "But why should you care? Well, in general, you don't really need to concern yourself with it simply because DVD Studio Pro itself does a decent job of allocating elements automatically. However, there are two cases in which DVD Studio Pro's VTS editor can come in handy. In the first place, it allows you to spread your menus over multiple video title sets, which, in effect, eliminates the 1 GB menu barrier that previous versions of DVD Studio Pro had. In the second, it also allows you to create new video title sets and place elements in them as you see fit (mostly), which can be helpful for reducing the lag time experience by end users when jumping from one element to the next."

DVD Studio Pro: AC-3 (Dolby Digital) audio may not play back in HD DVD projects

DVD Studio Pro: AC-3 (Dolby Digital) audio may not play back in HD DVD projects :
Solution
If you are compressing your DVD assets on an Intel-based Mac, use Linear PCM audio in HD DVD projects.

Scripting 'Last Menu Viewed' in DVD Studio Pro

Scripting 'Last Menu Viewed' in DVD Studio Pro:

One question about DVD Studio Pro seems to be coming up a lot lately: How do you assign a control to a DVD remote's Menu button to take the viewer to the last menu used? For example, if you're viewing a track from a chapter menu, you want people to be able to go back to the chapter menu by hitting the Menu button. But if the viewer accessed the track from the main menu, you want the viewer to go back to the main menu instead

DVD Studio Pro 4: "Formatting failed" and "Muxer Bit Rate too high" error with H.264 for HD DVD

DVD Studio Pro 4: "Formatting failed" and "Muxer Bit Rate too high" error with H.264 for HD DVD: "DVD Studio Pro 4 allows you to author DVDs with high definition (HD) video that conform to the HD DVD standard. There are two H.264 presets in Compressor 2 for encoding video for an HD DVD project. Symptom

If you customize one of these presets by increasing the bit rate of the H.264 stream, you may get a 'Formatting failed' error and the log would list 'Muxer Bit Rate Too High' when you build your project in DVD Studio Pro. This can occur when you set the bit rate higher than the preset bit rate."
