Frank Capria: tests ProRes vs. DNxHD
Frank - looks good. Except I can't see a difference in the black frames at all.
Also, I'd have liked to seen how some rendered/cg content looks (or some straight video)

This is the second year for the festival, which was a "world's first" in 2006. Unlike last year, this year's festival will be free to enter, thanks to a sponsorship from Small Dog Electronics. (www.smalldog.com) "We learned a lot from last year's groundbreaking festival, including the fact that people don't like to pay to submit their film. Thanks to Small Dog, we've eliminated the entry fee," said Flux Founder Ryan Ritchey.
"There are so many new iPod owners since the last festival, that we expect a great response from people looking for fresh, fun films to watch on the iPod," Ritchey said.
Other changes include a podcast feed of all the films, and a new voting system combining viewer voting and judging by a professional panel. Entries for the fest are being accepted now through March 18, 2007 in three categories: Student Film, Independent Film, and "The Kitchen Sink;" a category for all other clips.
Entries from 11 countries were part of last year's inaugral/"beta test" edition of the festival.
Prizes for the festival include Apple iPods and the Apple Mac Mini to the Best of Fest winner.
More information on the festival can be found at www.theflux.tv/ipodfest.
Apple - Final Cut Studio - Resources: "Resources"
Great Apple Webpage with loads of resources. Scads and Scads. One of the best finds in months.
M2T files and Final Cut Pro - The Digital Video Information Network:
How can I use these files (from a firestore fs-4 pro HD recorder) in FCP? Sorry if this has come up before, but for some reason I'm unable to search in these forums.
Using a Firestore with HDV information.
Solutions include MPEG Streamclip (losing timecode) and HDxDV (keeps TC).
Then there's the whole question of if keeping your TC is necessary.
Color Corrector - DVXuser.com -- The online community for filmmaking:
What is the best color corrector for Final Cut pro with an HVX200?
Thread on which color corrector.
Realistically, the 3 way CC should be used (vs. the CC) - as it works in YUV space not RGB space.
The thread is all about (well, about 5 posts worth) Final Touch and Color Finesse
MacVoices: Kevin Monahan Discusses Video Production Skills and His "Motion Graphics Tour": "Kevin Monahan of SFCutters, the San Francisco ProApps User Group takes some time off on his 'Motion Graphics and Effects in Final Cut Pro' tour to talk about the evolution and importance of video production skills as a tool, how his organization focues on the professional audio and video applications that Apple (and others) offer, and what you can learn if you join him for his upcoming stops in San Francisco and San Diego."
Starts tomorrow in NYC...but the seminars start today

Apple - Discussions - Quality Issues with Compressor 2.0.1: " Posts: 1 Has anyone had any contact with Apple engineers about the problems folks are having with macro-blocking artifacts with Compressor since 2.x appeared?
Is Apple aware of this serious step-back in reliability and quality?
We too are experiencing this and it is very troublesome. Really takes the fun out of doing this type of work.
I would like hear from those who have never had the problem or who had the problem and resolved without reverting to older versions.
I think the one common factor among those experiencing the problem is that we are all working in DV25 (NTSC or PAL).
